A Shoulder Pain

February 29th, 2008 · 38 Comments

For the past Few weeks, I’ve had an acute pain the shoulder area. I know the cause…. my doctor has attributed it to stress…stress mostly caused by the not knowing what will happen with the job situation that I have had to endure for the last 5 months…. Well, I am happy to say that [...]

Touch-and-Go

February 25th, 2008 · 84 Comments

With all of the flying that I do, I’ve never experienced a “touch-and-go”. This is where a plane is just about to land but then aborts the landing and takes off again. It happened a few hours ago when I was flying from Quito to Guayaqil, Ecuador. It was raining pretty heavily and there was obviously a lot of wind. The plane flared a little before it got to the runway and then continued down the runway quote a distance. I had just commented to myself that the pilot had eaten up a lot of runway when the engines were put into full thrust and we did an abrupt pull-up. After circling around and trying again, we finally landed (to a lot of applause). I guess that this happens every once in a while, I’m just surprised that this is the first time that I can remember it happening to a flight that I was on. I guess that the odds finally caught up to me.

A Circus of Sorts

February 24th, 2008 · No Comments

For those who have been watching the below antics of the “employment” process that my company so wonderfully employs (a.k.a. Re-applying for Your Job Every Six Months), you’ll know that job security in this company only lasts as long as it takes for someone to come up with a plan to re-shuffle people around, thereby [...]

“Not in Your Region” – Why I Can’t Keep Up

February 16th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I am, to say the least, not a T.V. addict. I can’t force myself to set aside a certain time slot on a certain day to faithfully watch an episode of a T.V. series – no matter how interesting I find it to be. I am not even the type that can surf through channels [...]

French Onion Soup

February 14th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I decided to stay home today. It’s not that there isn’t any work to do, there’s more than enough of that. In fact, there is so much that a single day couldn’t possibly be enough to get everything done, and that is completely ignoring the fact that I am supposed to be out and about, [...]

Walking on the East Side

February 8th, 2008 · 118 Comments

I find myself in Berlin, the eastern part to be exact. I came here for a fruit and vegetable growers and shippers festival that is held each year. Booth after booth of the most perfect-looking fruit and vegetable specimans that you will ever see – they only pick the best to bring of course. The [...]

Crowded Lounge

February 5th, 2008 · 11 Comments

I arrived at the Sao Paulo airport a little early as you never know with the traffic here. After checking in, I decided that since I had two hours to kill before my flight, I’d head on over to the Executive Lounge to relax in. Yes, I am a big shot now. If you sit [...]

Superbowl in Sao Paulo

February 3rd, 2008 · 8 Comments

So, here it is 1130p.m. and I am watching the collection of advertising, commentary, hype and a litte bit of sports that we have all come to know as The Superbowl. In between the commercials, you can sometimes catch a little football, right? No, wrong! In foreign lands that are fortunate enough to show the Big Game, they usually dispense with all of the marketing and advertising greediness that is so very apparent in the U.S. Sure, there are still commercials,  but they are only at the most obvious spots, like quarter [...]
